I just downloaded another four rolls of film from www.richardphotolab.com (amazing lab based in California with the best customer service) and it’s like Christmas each time for me. Several months back I purchased a Mamiya 645 www.mamiya.com from another photographer for $300.00. I’d been wanting to try a medium format camera for ages and this was a good way to get started. The Mamiya 645 is a medium format film camera that uses 120 film. It’s the next level up from a 35mm film camera with larger negatives and tons more detail in each shot. When shooting film I really have to slow down and get back to the basics. It really makes me think as I only get about 15 shots per roll of film. To put it in perspective for me… Film $4.95 per roll, processing film $19.00 per roll= $25.00 for just 12-15 shots. So for me, I’m trying to nail every single shot. When I shoot digital I have the luxury of shooting and immediately seeing if I GOT it. It’s been a learning experience and a lot of fun. That being said, if you see me pull out the dinosaur this fall for your shoot- don’t panic it’s just a film camera. I will adding a roll of film to every shoot this fall.
Below are a few shots from the recent rolls I received..
